Very calm.

Ambient jazz fusion? Right up my alley man! This stuff always has a place in my ears. :D

Percussion; One word. Smooth. Nothing clashes, no clipping, and the volume of the percussion is just right so that it isn't too overpowering. Sounds like you've got a bit of a light filter on it, but I could be so wrong. :P

Bass; Smooth as well. Not too overpowering or heavy, it's just the right amount of bass, and the sequencing and melodies done for it are actually really nicely done.

Synths and other such: Wow. Expert job here! Sounds like an electric piano and some lovely saxophones, or maybe it's a vibraphone, I can't quite tell. Sublime work there, buddy!

Overall, a good quality song!

Alright alright

I'm feeling this song man, it's not badly done! I agree with the guy below me though, so let's start it out.

1. Percussion: Alright I suppose. It's kinda weak for dubstep, but hey, it works okay with the atmosphere the song has set.

2. Bass: Really weak in my opinion. The wobbles are good, yes, but the bass isn't strong enough for my taste. It just seems too light and high pitched. Add some bass boosting and compression to that sucker and really make it stand out. You might have to alter your percussion to adapt to a louder bass as well.

3. Extra synths/sounds: Props here. The sounds are very crisp and clean, as well as smooth. Nothing clashes here.

I am be no means a dubstep expert, but this isn't half bad. Just work on your bass presence, the wobbles are fine.

Thanks for the review & the good score! :D

Oh my...

Fucking A, man, I've lost track of everything, some of which is your music. I apologize for the lack of reviews in the past few months.

Now, only one word comes to my mind for this song; Sublime.

Honestly, it's one of the most chill things you've done. Working in dubstep has really altered your music style, and I think for the better! This song has a lot going for it, so let's ge the old gears running and get this started!

1. The overall quality. Man have I ever heard something as sharp and professional sounding as this! The mixing and sound quality is amazing, there isn't any clipping or clashing tones.

2. Percussion. Very punchy. It works well for the more ambient background in the song. It needs a good beat to carry it along, and I think what you have is simplistic but smooth. Nice job here, you've always been spot on with percussion.

3. Synths and Such. Wonderful job. I can see that this is a compilation sort of song, and I don't know if any of the melodies and sounds are yours, but bravo man! Everything was really smooth and soft, not too overpowering or anything.

4. Composition of other works: Props to you sir! And thanks for the honor of using a part of one of my songs in this one. Excellent job with mixing everyone's bits in, nothing felt out of place or clashed with the rest of the song.

Overall, it's a damn good song buddy. I'm definitely downloading this one. Honestly, you've improved, a lot, I think. Your music now sounds very professional, yet you really avoid the stereotypes of the hip-hop or dubstep genre. I can definitely see you making money off of this sort of thing.

Awesome job man. Again I apologize for the lack of reviews on your songs, but you better be sure I'm coming back!

Thanks for the review mate. Always appreciate the in depth analyses you make of my songs.. but this was for a competition which required me to sample everything in the song from other NG songs, as you can tell i actually used one of your songs in it too haha.

Oh wow!

This is really nice, very well done! It's got a lot to it, so let's get started...

1. It's completely progressive. I love this about trance songs and house songs nowadays, they've got to be very progressive, always changing so that it is completely interesting for the length of the song.

2. Synths and leads and such. Nicely done. Very filling but not overpowering. It all fits together, nothing clashes, the melodies roll off of one another. Excellent here. The arps are well done, the way you've written them does not sound awkward at all.

3. Bass. Not very noticeable, but that works well for this song. It doesn't need a whole lot of bass. The way it is works well, as I think too much bass would make the song too.... rude, i guess.

4. FX. Nice work here. These take quite a bit of time and effort to perfect and to make them fit into the song, so you did well here!

5. Percussion. Not to heavy, and I think that if it were heavier than it is now, the song would be ruined. Adding too much more would be very counter productive.

There you have it! 5 good points for this song. You did a wonderful job, really!

There you have it sir. You can choose anything of mine, if you wouldn't mind. I'm open for criticism on anything.

PrEmoEffect responds:

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I really appreciate the review. You've pointed out much of what I was unsure about, so it's helped me know what people like and dislike. Next time, I will try to get a heavier bass in. In this song, I tried to make the bass, lead, and higher lead mesh together, but I didn't add enough dynamics to the lower end of the bass synth to make it more prominent. I've been working a lot with patches that combine multiple synths to get richer sounds, so should be able to correct that for the future.

I also don't do too much with the percussion, even though I probably should. the percussion is really hard for me simply because I crave the melodic aspects of songs.

Holy-fucking crap.

My god. I haven't checked out your music in a while, but I'll be damned if I don't love it still! This is amazing hw, you put your amazing hip-hop beat skills into this, and threw on some amazing dubstep. The first 3 minutes are wonderful, it's actually a very calm song. The little bits of glitching are nice, and then...

BOOM.

Bass comes out. It comes out... Strong like Bull! It's wonderful! I've never really heard a faster beat in dubstep, and honestly, I think it works wonderfully. The addition of that violinand piano (right?) are also excellently integrated.

Once again, you have failed to disappoint me. Ballin' tune you've got here.

Interesting to say the least!

This is very reminiscent of an artist I like called "EasilyEmbarrassed". They do a lot of ambient songs with good percussion work, and I really like this song! It's got a lot of good things going for it, so let's get started! :)

1. The pads. All good here mang! Lot's of good dissonance and whatnot, plus the addition of softer real life instruments. I keep hearing a violin. :P

2. The square lead. Works well here! It's got a good filter and delay on it, and such a thing adds a lot to the song. Sometimes a little bit of melody is all you need!

3. The progression. The song never really gets boring, it changes just when it starts getting repetitive. It makes for a very engaging song.

My one complaint; the bass kick you used. It sounds almost like it's got a high end filter on it, and it doesn't sound too good. It kinda seems out of place with the rest of the song. But hey, if you want to keep it, I'm all for it! :)

Well well! I'm glad you reviewed my song and asked me to review this, because it's actually very good!

JebusAndTheHolyYoses responds:

Thank you so much for the review!

I'm glad you enjoyed the track. Thanks for all of the compliments. What I've been working on the hardest lately is equalization and compression to try to get all of my volumes right and limit distortion/clipping etc. I think I may have over-filtered the bass drum in an effort to limit distortion that was happening between the bass synth and bass drum. This song isn't finished yet, and I'll definitely try to fix that ;)

Thanks for your help!

Oh my.

This is quite literally mind boggling. It's got a lot of neat stuff that comes and goes throughout the entire song, so let's get started!

The sound scape pads. Oh wow. Komplete 7 has got to be REALLY good, at least if the sound scapes are coming from there! :P

The percussion. Interesting design on the percussion. It's very bouncy, yet ambient at the same time. I like how the snare isn't always in a 4 beat formation, it comes at a bit of different spot along the timeline.

Overall: The song flows really well. There aren't any annoying spots or sounds, and it all works really well together.

And so:
10/10
5/5
3.51 / 5.00 (+ 0.81)

I can't tell you why the score is so low, it's a very good song from you! It's almost reminiscent of "Easily Embarrassed."

Thanks a lot for such a kind review kaizerwolf : )
Glad you liked it!

Not a lot of people can appreciate experimental music nowadays...

Oh my.

I am nothing if not a man of my word!

From the starting line, I was initially surprised. It's a very aggressive intro, nice and powerful. After that, it calms down, you're sneaking around the perimeter of a military bunker. It's got a lot of good points throughout the song, so let's get started! :)

1. The intro. God damn I love that intro. It's so powerful and full of energy, and those crazy violin spasms that sound so much like the show Lost. Really nice work!

2. 1:00 and on- Excellent use of... well, everything! It's got a lot of good sounds, and the whole progression is great. Instruments are fading in and out, and it all comes together in a very neat and flowing tone.

3. The song is very crisp and clean. There isn't a string out of place, nothing overpowers the other.

4. Holy crap KEY CHANGE. Desperation in the end, it seems! The percussion gets a bit more intense, the brass really comes out, the strings pull back. You did a nice job with the transition, and that part is really well done.

My one complaint would be the ending. It's somewhat abrupt. While it doesn't deter from the song, it is a bit odd. Though, with that amazing intro that i love so much coming right after it, there are no real complaints from me! :)

I'm glad you reviewed my song and asked me to review this one, otherwise I would have never found this really exceptional piece of work!

Tomppaah responds:

1. Oh man thanks :D I was suprised myself that I managed to pull of that intro. ;) I was afraid it was going to sound too exaggerated :P

2.I'm particularly fond of all the instruments fading in and out myself ;) When I made this track I had just found out a couple of new things with EWQL, and those fadings are a result of that :P

3. :) Funny thing is, that I only used one plugin to bring out all instruments ;)

4. :DD I assume you're talking about the part at 2:18 ;) That one was also non intentional, but I figured I'd have to come up with something so It could lead into another theme. As I said in the author comments, it's really a cliffhanger for another track, but I haven't started working on that track yet :3

Thank you so very much for listening to this :D I'm very happy you did! I'll try to do some justice to the end of this track, by working on the track that would follow :)

Stay in touch man! :)

Spooky Cock :P

A different style remix than I usually hear. Most times, when people remix deadmau5 songs, they don't really deviate from the original sounds, the typical organ playing the lead.

What you've done is very good, it doesn't sound like every other deadmau5 Ghosts'n'Stuff remix out there. It loops wonderfully too, I didn't even know that it had looped. Very secretive!

Well played, Envy. Well played indeed.

Holy fuck.

You're making my head explode holmes. Seriously.

I am really digging the 7/4 beat! You did a nice job with an experimental tone and beat, it's a very spacey and ambient piece of art. Each little part that you add does nothing to deter from the song's awesomeness, the leads, the bass, the background sound effects... all of it is really well done.

You're percussion, as always, is amazing. You've always done well with your percussion samples, so no complaints there!
